Confirmation

My super sexy leg wrap

I just got the call from the Doctor's office.  The X-ray clearly showed the fracture.   It was so clearly fractured that they cancelled the appointment for the bone scan.  Eep.

I will be seeing a different doctor tomorrow (since mine is now on vacation for 2 weeks). I'm kind of scared to find out the extent. Until then, I rest.

At least now I know.

I'm trying not to beat myself up for waiting so long before seeing the doctor.  Who's to say that the diagnosis would have been different.  All I can do now is find out my treatment options and forge ahead until I am healed.

  1. Oh no Cori, I'm so sorry!! :(
Please don't think "coulda, woulda, shoulda." The good news is you have your diagnosis, now you can get to healing this injury. There is a way back from stress fractures!

I'm sure there will be things you can focus on that you can do during recovery...upper body strength? Core? Hip strengthening exercises (I think they are pilates leg lifts). There will be things that you can do!!

    1. It will definitely be a good opportunity to do some cross training.

  3. That's very much too bad, but at least now you know, and can move forward on that basis. This is a great excuse to start getting the twins to wait on you. "Mommy is broken, you need to help her by xxxxx."

    1. So far they have helped by jumping directly onto it while I had my feet up. "Mommy is broken" isn't computing.

  5. I'm making a BIG SAD POUTY face! So sorry to hear that Cori. It's hard to believe. In addition to the other suggestions for sanity-saving cross-training options: water running? Keep up posted. I hope you recover quickly -- as in "at the speed of light!"

  8. I waited 3 months to see my doctor, thinking "I'll back off, and it will all right itself", as my injuries have done in the past. Nope, my x-ray this week turned up a bone spur :P While I'm sorry to hear about your stress fracture, and glad I don't have one, being injured sucks.

Being injured has, however, given me incentive to work on other stuff I'd been meaning to do anyway, like swimming and yoga, and maybe this summer I'll plan more bike rides than foot races.

Hang in there, Cori. We will reclaim our running selves in time.
