So, when I had the opportunity to try out some new women's earbuds from Yurbuds, I leapt at it. It wasn't long before a box containing 2 pairs arrived on my doorstep.
As much as I hate the concept of "shrink it and pink it" that is what I thought at first sight, when I pulled out the pair of hot pink buds. I could feel an allergic reaction coming on, but I did my best to put aside my aversion to the colour for the greater good.
The idea behind Yurbuds new Inspire for Women line is that a woman's ears are smaller and therefore the buds that are normally designed for a man's ear will not fit or feel the same. Hmm - almost sounds like the solution to my problem, right?
Inside the box were:
- 2 sets of silicone inserts
- Instruction manual
- Audio Headset Features: Adjustable Ear Buds, Water Resistant, Sweat Resistant
- Frequency Response: 20Hz-20kHz
- Ear Cushion Material: Silicone
I figured I could just stick them in and go, but they felt terrible when I did that. So I opened the instructions and read about the "twist-lock" and when I tried again, they felt much better. Guess it pays to read first.
I used the smallest size insert.
I plugged in and off I went!
I didn't find them to be as comfortable as I expected at first, but as that first walk wore on, I found I felt them less and less, which I have never had with earbuds before. On the run I took them on, I didn't feel them at all. And they didn't budge, fall out, or make me stop to adjust them on either test! For me, that's a pretty big win for a bitty pair of pink earbuds!
Having an audiophile hubby means most of the earbuds and headphones I get as gifts are fancy, noise cancelling, stereophonic wonders. Yurbuds are much different than I usually use. And that's a good thing. The sound quality is really nice - clear, not static-y at all. These are NOT noise cancelling (which I am grateful for, since being able to hear traffic in my town is a big safety thing). You can still hear the wind, but it doesn't interrupt hearing your music. Even when I turned the volume up, I could still hear cars and other environmental noises.
Now, I can head out on my long long long runs and plug in to help the miles fly by. These are actually making me look forward to making playlists!
