Long Run Ouchies

I was so excited to get to meet up with JS today!  It has been over a month since we last ran together and I was totally missing my Runner Girl!

And we had lots of time to catch up - since our 10k took us 1:40 to finish.

We headed out from Glenmore Landing at around 7.  It was such a nice temperature...cool and clear.  Loved it.  And I got about a km before my knee started to complain.

Badly.

So much of our run was spent walking.  We ran when we could.  Luckily (or not so luckily) JS was also hurting so she didn't begrudge me the super long walk breaks.   Then again - she never does. (Thanks, hun.  You'll never know exactly how much I appreciate your willingness to slow down for me!)

We ran out toward South Glenmore Park and just past the bridge into the Weaselhead.  Everytime I run this way, I fall in love with it all over again.  It is so truly beautiful!

They were setting up for Calgary 70.3 today!  It would still be an hour or so before the elite runners would make it that far, but it was cool to see what goes into the setup for an Ironman!

On the way back, we did something we almost NEVER do.  We took the lower path along the reservoir.  It was a nice change of scenery and I think it felt shorter than taking the upper path - that one almost always feels like torture because you seem to be so close to the end, but then it is still so far away...

Great conversation.  Painful run.  Cherry Almond Pastry with my coffee.  I think 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

I think I am heading back to the chiropractor this week.  Something is up and I need to fix it while my long run distances are still short.

  1. You have been so crazy, busy lately no wonder your body is suffering a bit. I hope a chiro visit helps you out.

You should have seen Dave's face when i came home with 3 new bags-priceless!
