Cori the Clinic Pusher

Ok, people.  Last year, I had the luck of getting into two EXCELLENT clinics.  They are back this spring and, while I can't re-attend either of them due to other commitments - I want to give you the info so you can partake!

(the titles are linked to my reviews of the seminars last year)

1) Running Clinic at Fitness Fix (aka - the one I fell off the treadmill in last year)
This one is FANTASTIC!  and CHEAP!!!  For only $30, they first film you running on a treadmill and then you head outside and are filmed running on flat and hilly surfaces - while having your form critiqued and corrected.  A few weeks later - you get to pick up the video of your running and your "homework" to keep improving.   I so wish I could be there again!  This is an excellent value for the price!

When:April 22, 2012
Time: 8:30-9:55am
Where: Fitness Fix Studio, Hunterhorn Plaza (566 - 64th Ave NE)
To Register: http://fitnessfix.ca/seminars.html

2) SmartRunner Clinic
Put on by the crew at Elite Sport Performance, this is a clinic that JS and I attended last spring.  For an entire morning, we learned about the latest research in sport medicine and nutrition, we were treated to demos on foam rolling and dynamic warmups and we got to take home our very own travel foam rollers.   It was so much information that it was almost overwhelming, but both of us felt it was well worth our $80.  Unfortunately, we are in Vancouver when this year's seminar is on or I'm sure we'd be enrolled once again!

When: May 5, 2012
Time: 8:30am - 1 pm
Where: Mount Royal University - Roderick Mah Centre
To Register: http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e5lgupkk813d096a&llr=qdrw7gcab

If you are in the Calgary area, and are serious about improving your running - I suggest you check these out!  Both will likely sell out,so register soon.

  1. I'd love to find some seminars/clinics like these here in Vancouver. I'm sure they must exist, but where I wonder?

  2. I did a quick google and found a lot of race distance-specific stuff in Van...finding weekend seminars or one-day workshops was harder than it should be, I thought.

This one sounded cool for a distance specific, multi-week - if only for the swag - it's a great value.

These guys just had a nutrition seminar a couple of weeks ago (not helpful) but it looks like they plan clinics regularly:
(also of note - they have some running workout videos that I am VERY interested in ordering)

Meetup.com has a ton of running groups for Vancouver (something I wish Calgary had). This one sounds pretty cool (and they also do education):

This one is sold out, but I would have killed to attend...well, maybe not killed (and it was FREE!):

    another to watch:
