Relay Musings

  • This Sunday (Feb 26), I will be a medal bearer in the Rick Hansen Relay.   For anyone in the Calgary area who  wants to come out to cheer me on, I will be running on the Northbound side of Macleod from Glenmore Trail to the pedestrian overpass. This is on the Home Depot side.  The approximate time is 11:08am.  The actual time could be before or after that depending on how slow or fast those before me end up being.   I'm sure Hubby will get there well in advance so just look for him.  He'll be the tall guy with the ginormous camera.
  • I had a small heart attack last night when I checked the extended forecast and it said it was going to be nice all week and then go down to -18*C for Sunday.  Today, I'm happy to say it is saying -11*C.  Hopefully Sunday will realize it needs to be consistent with the rest of the week's gorgeous weather and will cooperate at a much warmer temp than that.  I really want to run this with the twins!
  • I am making medals out of FIMO for the twins - so they can have a finishers medal like mommy's if is nice enough that they can actually run it with me.
  • If anyone wants to donate to the Rick Hansen Foundation - I have a donation page set up here . I will keep the link up in the sidebar until Monday and then it will be replaced by my fundraising page for the Mother's Day Run.   Again - not actively fundraising for either, but if it is a cause that speaks to you I wanted the links to be available.
  • Regardless - after my segment is over, I am free to go. So I am thinking Starbucks at Chinook Centre might be a plan for anyone who cares to join us for a celebratory latte! :)
  • This weekend, I was interviewed for an article on Relay Races for iRun Magazine.   I don't know how much of the interview they will use, but the writer was talking to people training for and organizing teams for Canadian Relay races.   The article is supposed to be in the April issue.
  • Doing said interview actually made me more nervous about the relay race than I was before.  Not sure why.
