Dread Factor

My GAWD has this ever been the longest week!   It's only Wednesday and I ache for Friday in a way I can't even begin to describe.  You'd think that with my impending marathon that time would be rushing to get there...perhaps I am not dreading it nearly enough...THAT must be it.

So odd.  You'd think that with how hard the past month of marathon training was that the dread factor would be pretty high.  But no - I've been adopting a new mindset and it is now making time drag.   My new mindset has been "Don't think about it.  Just do it."  Pretty good mantra for a marathon, dontcha think?

Putting one foot in front of the other for 5 hours? Don't think about it. Just do it.

What if it rains? Don't think about it. Just do it.

What if the world annoys me that day? Don't think about it. Just do it.

What if I end up running alone instead of with a pace group? Don't think about it. Just do it.

Did I train well enough? Don't think about it. Just do it.

It's a pretty sweet mindset.  Brings me a great deal of peace.  But that peace has totally cancelled out the dread factor.  The dread factor that will make it just hurry up and get here already! 

In a week, I'll be wishing it was today.  I know it.   But today, I just want it to be Friday.
