It's been a crazy week of houseguests and too much eating out and junk food. And not enough working out. The scale says I'm up...and not a little smidge, either. So, I guess it's time to buckle down. To buckle down and get my health in gear.
First, let me check in with my new years resolutions:
1) Lose 25 more pounds (hopefully before we go to Mexico so I won't scare small children on the beach in my bathing suit)
I have 15lbs to go. (stupid, willpowerless me.)
2) Aim for one race each month
On track. Actually - ahead of that. I believe I will be at 13 or 14 by the end of the year.
3) Eat less junk food and aim for good nutrition 75% of the time. (c'mon - I KNOW I won't meet 100%)
I'd really rather not talk about it. I also refuse to comment on the number of bags of chips I bought in July. Or the licorice I devoured shopping with my best friend this weekend. Or the carrot cake with my july lunches....
4) De-clutter our home considerably. If we don't use it - we lose it.
The Lululemon Goaltender just emailed me today to remind me that I said I'd do this by Sept 1. Guess we know what August will be spent doing. Cull, cull. cull. I don't even care if we make money from it anymore...I just want as much crap gone as I can muster...
5) Work on my posture. I know I will look considerably slimmer if I just improve that.
I'm working on it bit by bit...I seem to have the most troble when it comes to just holding my stomach in...
6) Be able to do pushups on my toes like a big girl.
My core is much stronger, but my long, skinny arms have toruble supporting the weight as I lower myself. I can push UP but can't lower down...Maybe after I've put in some time on the Rip:60, I'll have the strength.
7) Edit my Nano Novel
Sigh - not yet. I'm aiming to edit in November and just do it alongside Nanowrimo. I figure the book will be practically a different story by the time I'm done anyway.
8) Complete at least one university course for my degree
As much as I want to - I don't have time right now. Between, work, commuting and family - there is none to spare. I am also re-evaluating what I want to be when I grow up so maybe when I figure that out - I'll also have the time figured out.
9) Download Garmin at least once a week
I'm doing this after every run. Thank goodness for the Garmin sync at Daily Mile :) In other news, I've run over 420K so far this year.
Ok - I am negging out a bit here. I knew I was letting myself slip in July and checking in like this has made me see how much.
I had this great July goal of finding balance and eating healthy food...and I failed spectacularly on all counts. We made it to a farmers market exactly once and we ate like crap all month. I don't feel as though I have any balance right now and I could probably use a big detox. Maybe August should involve detoxing.I just don't have the drive to do it right now. Instead - I am going to keep to 2 rules...No daily lattes. No eating out (though I will allow one lunch a week to keep me from being too hermitty at work).
The food situation in our house is one of "the pantry's full, but we have nothing to eat". I proposed to hubby that it might be time to do an "Eat to the back of the pantry and the bottom of the freezer" month. He non-commitally shrugged so I am taking that as all the go-ahead I need LOL.
So, there's the food plan. Eat up what we have and get creative. We'll still buy some fresh fruit and veggies, but the rest of our meals will come from what we have so we can start fresh again in September.
No other lofty goals. I`m just going to keep August simple and try to get back to what works for me. Track my food. Do my workouts. Run a very long distance every weekend. Read A LOT. Enjoy what`s left of summer.
